Wave No. 1
Our Intention
The Wave is a step away from the constant flow of content we take in on a daily basis, where things are often saved and rarely returned to. This journal is designed to be absorbed slowly and deliberately throughout the month. We hope to offer a handful of reflections and actions to implement to create your vibrant life.
Monthly Mantra
“You don't have to be in hurry in life. Everything happens in sacred-time”
~ Lailah Gifty Akita, Pearls of Wisdom: Great Mind
-
That is what drew me to the coast of South Florida. Even with the immense built-environment, I walk by sea turtle nests dotted along the sand, I paddleboard by the tangled mangroves, manta rays leap from the water in front of me, I feel the presence of the natural world. These daily interactions have allowed me to feel a deeper connection to the ocean and its inhabitants, as well as a desire to protect and care for what is now my backyard. As I integrate into this new landscape and community, I am taking a greater effort to step into a more regenerative and mindful approach to being.
I’ve initiated the (almost) daily ritual of starting (or ending) my day at the beach… grounding myself by walking in the sand, sometimes dipping in the ocean. It's a very peaceful yet energizing experience. I don’t think there was a time I left the coastline or even the view of the sea not feeling as though part of its mystical power had been transferred to me. When I absorb the energy of the ocean, it fills me with a sense that I can write an incredible story in my life. It instills alignment, peace, and inspiration within me.
Throughout my life I have sought out visiting and living in coastal towns - from the Carolina Lowcountry, Sicilia, to Miami, where that feeling is alive and embedded in the environment. The coast is an endless source of inspiration that continually calls me, which is what influenced me to create Coventina.
The concept of Coventina has been ruminating within me for a while (a few years!). There were phases of my life I felt like sharing it, but held back even at the risk of feeling like I was “falling behind”, but as I mentioned, timing is sacred. When I moved to Boca, I felt a sense of alignment that it was time to share Coventina with you. I want to release it from my mind and into the world. It is my hope that Coventina offers you space and inspiration to connect more to the world around you; to invite in the energy of the coast to create a vibrant, regenerative, and happy way of being.
I’ll leave it there. Go to the sea. Go be great. Welcome to Coventina.
Sending Good Vibes,
CarlyFounder // Coventina and Co.

What We’re Loving
Beach Read: Eat A Peach A Memoir
-
This memoir from celebrity chef David Chang covers much more than his rise to fame as one of the world's most famous chefs. As a fan of Chang, who is from my hometown in Virginia, I picked this up thinking it would be full of entertaining stories about the NYC restaurant industry. What I got was much more than that. His story dives into perseverance, introspection, mental health, failure, and creativity. This is a great read for someone needing to get out of a rut or looking to gain a little insight into how to chase a dream. After reading (or if books aren’t your thing), I suggest watching his series Ugly Delicious on Netflix, which in my opinion, is the best culinary show to date.

Daily Living: Simply Straws
-
Our team is crazy about glassware and straws are no exception. We find glass straws hold up the best compared to other options like bamboo or steel. They are easiest to clean, they feel and look the best, and add elegance to our daily beverages. We’re currently enjoying Simply Straw’s cocktail size in deep blue. Can you tell that’s our favorite color yet?
P.S. The 10-pack is currently on sale
Personal Care: Superfood Cleanser
-
I was in search of a gentle face wash that was not in plastic bottles or packaging. After being referred to the YTTP superfood cleanser by a friend, I started with purchasing the small travel bottle to try it out. Now I’m hooked. It’s gentle and hydrating and seems to keep my skin barrier balanced. I learned a small drop goes a long way, which means it lasts longer! I also appreciate that it is from a brand that emphasizes the power of plants and continues to evolve their environmental responsibility.
Natural Connections
Your Passion Point
The ocean offers so much beauty and is an everflowing source of inspiration, but more importantly it’s the heart of the planet that anchors the entire ecosystem and makes the world spin round. It feeds billions of people, produces over half of the world's oxygen we need to breathe, it holds 50 times more CO2 than our atmosphere, and works to hold the excess global heat that continues to build …that’s just a start.
Whether you are living near the coast or inland, our ecosystem is interlaced. Take a moment to think about what part of nature you admire most. Use this month to focus on strengthening that connection. Make time for it, nurture it, or connect with others who advocate for it. It may be starting an herb garden, picking up trash along your walking path, volunteering at a nature center, or even simply buying from a local farm.
As a first step to keeping our friendship with the ocean mutual, Coventina is partnering with the Gumbo Limbo Coastal Stewards in Boca Raton, FL by sharing a portion of all contributions granted to Coventina with the Stewards. We want to support their sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Additionally, we’ll be donating our time as a volunteer.
Your Natural Connection
Coventina's goal is to set the bar high, to do our part individually and as a community. The starting point is establishing or reestablishing a connection with what you are most passionate about in the natural environment. What’s yours?
Keep us in the loop. Follow @coventinaco on Instagram and DM us by the end of the month of August about what step you took to connect with your passion point in nature. You’ll be entered into a giveaway of our favorite glass straws.
